Press Releases

Franklin County Mosquito Control District traps and tests mosquitoes for West Nile virus throughout the County on a weekly basis.

“With mosquito populations on the rise, this is the time of year West Nile virus starts to emerge.  To help keep the number of mosquitoes to a minimum it is important to dump out all standing water at least once a week or contact your local mosquito control district to check larger bodies of stagnate water on your property.

If you have to be outside during times of peak mosquito activity, we recommend that you wear long sleeve shirts and pants, as well as insect repellent containing DEET.” says David Dorsett, Franklin County Mosquito Control District Director.

Franklin County Mosquito Control District will be conducting aerial and ground treatments over these areas for the remainder of the mosquito season.
